Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Today's the day

I think there's a consensus that today's the day? I'll be deeply disappointed if it turns out not to be true. Not because I'm particularly eager to be laid off, I don't think anybody is hoping for that in this economy. I'm just more than ready for this to be over.

Getting laid off (PIPed) in July was the best thing that could’ve happened to me. I was devastated at the time but 3 weeks later I had a better paying job with more vacation in a much more stable industry. So don’t get too stressed out. We’re smart people and if Exxon can’t afford to appreciate our talent right now, trust me, there are a lot of people willing to! I had 2 offers within 3 weeks of being laid off. Times are tough but an engineering degree is still valuable and Exxon looks good on a resume (whether it should or shouldn’t lol)
Stay positive. Everything happens for a reason!

: @uqd+17FBjLcL Plenty of “advisors” sitting around doing the same.

It's more about the secret supervisor meetings they're having afterwards.

Slim to none. Search TMTS and browse through the documents and you will see this wasn't a study on supervisors or span of control. The study was solely focused on roles required at locations.

"We have gone over the numbers and have a plan on who will be terminated. We will let you know as soon as we seem you are worthy to know. And by "we" I mean security. Remember folks, we are all in this together! "!

What’s the chances they get rid of overpaid middle managers who make 220k a year and do absolutely nothing but route information and rank people. There is such an excess of these people it’s not even funny. Let the purge begin!

I agree. I don’t think the actual layoffs will happen today, I think it will be more about the numbers that are to be let go and maybe an indication on what the package may look like for voluntary retirement.
