Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Comments and Observations (in private discussions and on this site)

These comments are a sad confirmation of just how f'ed up this once mighty organization has descended to. Misinformation, cloaknand dagger communications..as someone already pointed out. Nationally broadcast "NOTHING TO SEE HERE FOLKS. NOTHINS CHANGED. SMILE AND WAVE BOYS & GIRLS."

Today is myblast day with XOM.

I am one of those High Performers who had a record year. last year. (Actually the Best year ever. More new business than mybentire other team member combined. But we wouldn't want that fact to get in the way of a nicely fabricated charade nownwould we?)

In May, I was told point blank by my Manager (after reviewing my Performance Development System accomplishments for 1 April 2019 through 31 March 2020.) "WOW! What a year. I have zero doubt that we're going to be able to move you up in ranking and rating again this cycle." (This is also after I received an $11k salary hike last year for significant achievements the PDS cycle before!)

Lo and behold..on July 10th, My Manager and his snake in the grass Region Manager double team me on a Zoom call wherein they have the unmitigated gall to say to me "Er...great year last year. You should be so proud...HOWEVER, we've determined that your performance puts you in a "Needs significant improvement " category. You have 3 options: 1. Agree to a PIP. 2. Leave the company in a week and get 3 months severance. 3. Retire NLT than 1 November. SURPRISE!!!!"

They had the same disgraceful, dishonest and shameful conversation w 2 of our other Highly-Productive Senior Sales Personnel in the Region.

You cant piss down my leg and tell me that it's raining. This was handled so pathetically. How about annhinest conversation about where the company is at due to COVID, plunging global demand, etc. Instead of taking rhebfunk.

Every other person on the team knows that this happened and is simultaneously happening around the country and globe. They're just waiting to be Zoomed in to the "you're headed to the gallows next" call.

There you go Disgusting Darren...

Why is morale at XOM the lowest in the industry?

"Here's your sign."

Adios!!

@hbk - I'd have to say that integrity doesn't pay off at EM either. It's a damn shame, because - although we'd always have to polish up results for high level stewardship presentations - pre-merger Exxon always appeared to value technical prowess and honesty in reporting more than anything else.

Ok, who’s a– do I have to kiss to stay another 5 years and retire? Will Darren have a company to run in 2025?

Are you difficult to work with? Hard question to answer I know, and most people want to say "of course not." but maybe try to take an objective look at yourself and ask yourself if that is the problem.

I'd have to agree, and this is sad indeed:

Hard work does not pay off at EM
