Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Global projects impact.

25% cuts in GP. Which functions are at highest risk? Obviously cpm. But there’s only 300-400 people in cpm and they won’t completely gut it. So Where are the rest of the cuts coming from? Which “skills” do they value?

No group is safe. I find it kind of sad that there really isn't a strategy associated with this "study". If there was a headcount target per organization to run more lean yet still effective, we would already know what organizations need to trim down to!

Instead, total numbers for employees let go have been announced with no clear strategy on how to handle it. Programs that state 70% based on skills and company fit with 30% based on previous performance just mean it's a 2nd performance assessment with higher forced ranks into the bottom bucket.

Which groups in Global Projects are safe or are the cuts uniform across all groups?

Cpm = Central project management.

Big Bets is just a holding tank (literally) to protect golden children so they’re untouchable. Not sure what value they’re delivering (or what they’ve delivered in the past for that matter, besides making the right friends).

“Big Bets” team has to be the easiest job. You just look at what other companies are doing to be successful and convince management that it’ll work here too. And they’re all surprised by the “innovation” because no one in EM looks towards industry

We were told in the supervisor session that 425 is 25% of USA based employees. You can do the math.

Look up on career connect to see how many people report up through GP Pres. Former EMPC and EMDC had 1,000's employees. My guess GP is around 2k...more or less.

Has less to do with what people are working on and more to do with what the future needs are And where the value is. The most valuable contribution of Gp is front end development. The farther down the emcaps arrow you are, the less valuable you are. So I agree that cpm is at risk. I assume there is a lot of similar roles in BPO as well. Process design/OU type roles... that’s a tossup. Big bets is guaranteed to stay.
