Nepotism

If you kiss a– and play the game you’re good to climb the preverbal ladder. If you work hard but maintain your dignity by not drinking the kool-aid, good luck, you probably won’t go anywhere. Also, train your damn leaders. These fools have no idea how to manage people.

@noi+ you're not wrong about needing leaders but some actual managers are needed too. Too many people with teams who have no interest or ability in actual person management.

Please stop using the word manage. We need leaders not managers. To many mangers but not many real leaders at Nike. I have had some who started off as great leaders but the higher up they went they changed to managers and left the leadership skills behind.

How many times I made my case to get converted but my Sr. Director told me the books were closed. Then, wouldn't you know it... we'd get a new hire who was connected to him in some way. Funny how that works.
