UK 2020 New Hires

ExxonMobil UK have decided to bring New Hires into scope for redundancy. Does this contravene the Corporation’s global stance and is there anything that can be done to take them out of scope?

I can confirm that the opposite was the case.

In the past a new hire was less than 1 year service. In scope after a year is good, especially with asset sales in Europe.

It was a mistake to bring so many new hires in. In all fairness it makes sense that those with no experience go first. Also people a few years in have probably bought a house and are putting down roots. Also trickier to get on a new grad scheme after a few years.

It was a request from the reps in the UK consultation process to include them

I don't think they should be taken out of scope. They won't cut all of them. Just like they won't cut all REs. They should be on the chopping block just like the rest of us.

The newest hired should be the first to go.
