Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Honest and Hard Work Approach

Honesty, truth, doing the right thing for the company, and following process is NOT valued or rewarded at Ford. In fact, you WILL be punished and harassed into submission all with the support and buyin of HR. Even in the face of clear violation of process, HR will simply brush over the facts, flip the script, and hide behind the manager and say you clearly have an attitude problem. HR is the whipping tool of our bad Ford management. The goal is always to get an employee to give up and become a mindless follower.

Once you submit, you are then considered a model employee. Once I began keeping all opinion, ideas, and feedback silent; I became a top achiever. Mouth shut no matter what you see is the model behavior which is why we have so many quality and launch problems.

Regardless of the CEO, as long as people live in such a high level of fear and stress, things will not change. AND they won't change regardless of how many new "kids" you hire because the Ford culture created and maintained by HR and senior management refuses to see they are the root cause

Since I have been at Ford, I have notice two critical issues that need to be fixed. One is trust. There isn’t a level of trust that people will do the right thing, so there are layers of processes and oversight that slow progress to a grinding halt. The other is truth. Most leadership go with the solution that makes the best story versus dealing with the real issue. If you try to deal with an issue directly, you are seen as ‘not part of the program’. This is because of years of grooming managers in that style. The only way to fix this is to clean house.

OP is 100% spot on. If you desire career advancement shut your mouth, go with the flow. When the ship is sinking, abandon it. It's not worth the hassle and the stress to go against management. Just do as they say. When you do it enough, you can be management one day, or the company gets so bad management will come to you asking what to do. I know it's hard for people who want to contribute, but trust in OP, this is not the environment that fosters inclusion of knowledge or experience.
