Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

PIP and involuntary package

If you were on PIP and pass in October/November and then get laid off on Dec 1, are you still eligible for the involuntary package? That is, do you get the severance, out placement and health coverage?

@iwt+17JF05Kt agreed the FAQ says active PIP if you’ve passed it’s no longer active. They chose the 30 Nov date because all PIP’s had to be completed by 31 Oct. This effectively adds all of the PIP’s to the involuntary pool.

@kay is incorrect. Employees who pass PIP before Nov 30th 2020 may be selected for involuntary separation. This is stated in the FAQ.

If you passed the PIP you are NOT eligible to be laid off during this involuntary lay-off, per the FAQ and confirmation from HR.

Agree. I think with the layoff, the past 3 years performance are to ensure that higher performers that suddenly/unexpectedly dropped to NSI aren't thrown out. Anyone that was middle or lower previous years that were NSI should be worried.

In all honesty, the 30% weight is likely a PR number to prevent being sued for bias. Part of the criteria in the 70% is company fit. Add that to the past performance criteria and this makes up the majority of the assessment. Likely many of the passed NSI are just going to be the ones let get.

The better question is if 30% of the assessment will be previous years ranking how does the past one year get calculated?

I hope it’s not weighted towards the 2019 cycle and it averages over several years. If not I think all those that passed the PIP may start in a deep hole.
