Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

The future of the company

I saw some speculation on this forum that the entire company will be shut down by the middle of next year. On the other hand, I have now checked - Hertz has 1,224 jobs open in the US alone. That doesn’t make much sense to me.
I agree that we are not doing well, but is it a little exaggerated to say that the company will not survive for another year?
Maybe I’m just an optimist in spite of everything. I hope for the best, but I am preparing for the worst.

Hertz will shrink in the US and franchised the rest of the world.
The global contracts will be lost.
It will still operate with a 10 to 15% market share in the US vs its current 22%.
Enterprise and Avis will be the leaders.
Hertz will struggle for the next 3 to 5 years and will try to stay in the game after their reorganization.
That's if they don't get acquired by a competitor before.
Note that it is a very optimistic forecast where I am not raising the Chap7 scenario still very possible.

Don't let those 1200 openings fool you. Hertz is contracting not growing. Those openings are to replace the talent that left the company. Hertz is still recruiting to put boots on the ground until they raise the white flag and surrender in 6 months.

That's all you can do at this point. Be hopeful. But don't short change yourself. There is life outside of Hertz and many jobs similar to what you do pay more. Keep your eyes open for opportunity so that if another industry or company has an opening that you can be successful at might work out better. The less risky the better in my opinion. Especially if you are looking for long term success versus just being comfortable in what you know
