Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Everything but shipping boxes

Laid off in Sept. I've received severance, remaining commissions, and COBRA. Everything except shipping boxes to send equipment back. Has anyone else received these? Do they really want a 5 y/o printer back? Shipping costs are probably higher than what they printer is worth. The laptop on the other hand, I'd love to get rid of that overheating brick. The company issued cell phone still has service but I don't want that either.

Boxes showed up 2 months after WFR date. If they took their sweet time, I think I’ll take my sweet time.

I just wrapped my laptop in foil and threw it in a drawer. In that 1:1 call, HR couldn’t believe that’s all I had or borrowed.

You left on your own so it is your responsibility to return equipment on your own dime. If a person is laid off, they should not have to spare any additional expense to return equipment. You think that would be part of the process when laying off people during a pandemic. Just shows lack of common sense.

Do you really need Dell to send you a box to return your gear? I left Dell in May based on my own decision to move on. I received my shipping label, used my own box and padding to return my WFH gear. No issue. Is it really that hard for you?

Finally got my boxes and shipped all their c-ap out yesterday... Which was PERFECT timing since I start my new role Monday!!!

Good luck with the hunt everyone. It's a b!tch out there right now, but 7 weeks of grinding and I got a new gig and a 16% raise!!

I got my boxes and it took over a week. Well time to put in my laptop and monitor where it belongs.

I finally received my boxes today but no return shipping labels. I emailed the returns team, no response yet.

I haven’t received shipping boxes either. Who cares. I have their items stored away and they’re ready whenever they want them back. I’m actually an Apple junkie so I don’t want the Dell stuff, but no big deal to keep it safe until they take it back. My friend was laid off (different company) back in March (pre-Covid), and his company still hasn’t retrieved their tech equipment either. So it’s not just Dell FYI. I figure hold onto it rather than risk getting billed for it! There should be a statute of limitations though, lol.

Send HR a bill for excessive holding of dell owned equipment and don't blame the box vendor. This falls on Dell period.

I wonder if this is the Dell customer experience you receive when you call into the call center for help on a Dell product?

GO team dell. May I even say winners.

Same here. Incompetent vendor selection...probably lowest price option. Still no boxes

What does Dell do with ex employee machines anyway? They have not sent me a box either and I have inquired several times, they lock you out of it when you log in to the internet (although I found a way around that), so the machines are basically bricks. I don't see why they don't just let the person keep it and wipe it from there, obviously they have the control to do so and it would be alot cheaper because at this point I am guessing most machines that people have are archaic by now anyway...

I'm in the same vote.

I'm thinking about bringing my HW outside and doing a little office space action.
