Honeywell does not care about your career. There is no purpose to career discussions other than to determine who to RIF in the future. the best career move possible is to leave Honeyhell. Interviewing at a different company is the only career discussion you need.

jxv+17Kr8Voo This just shows that preformance / the work you do doesn't mean much, which is messed up. It is just how you "act" that matters.

Career & Honeywell being mentioned in the same sentence - Hilarious.

I can second everything said here. I spent quite a bit of time when I first put my ACE form together. Now 1.5 years later, my boss asked me, "Did you update your ACE for this mid-year?" I said, "Well, nothing has changed since I first filled it out. So, no. I didn't update my ACE"

Step 1: Determine if you are interested in pursuing a career or holding a job
Step 2: Recognize Honeywell with rare exceptions offers jobs, not careers.
Step 3: Pause a moment to let step two sink in
Step 4: Take bold action; act with urgency; be a zealot for YOUR growth

_What real leadership looks like_
career counseling will be done with your manager from five years ago instead of your current boss. Current and former leaders will be scorecarded on their ability to retain and grow talent. Download spreadsheet template here.

My managers monitor has “grow in place” burned into the screen

This has been going on for years under different names and formats.

If you want to stay around:
"A" Act like you have goals that benefit both you and your manager.
"C" While discussing your skills, act like they are valuable to the organization.
"E" Act happy and optimistic about things that are going on around you.

If you don't care:
Act like you don't care. You won't be around long.
I had one guy get very aggressive and argumentative he was gone in about 2 weeks.

It’s all BS and doesn’t benefit your career at Hon because Hon will lay you off in a New York minute and not think twice about you. Go into the meeting with your paperwork completed and just bs your manager for your fifteen minutes.

This is really good thing that they are doing by identify your career next steps. I was TM and expressed desire and operation to become a senior TM Or director within the next 12-24 Months, I had more experience, knowledge and demonstrate d results over my then Director... sure enough by month18 I became a director... though not at this Sh*T hole company. so the career next step was a motivating tool to get me moving out.

And for the Trolls that dislike this post. yes I check in from time to time to see what is happening to by friends and colloquies. I didn't give-up on them, only the company we used to work for.

Its usually a standard practice for a management level, a checklist activity. It does not lead anywhere. Do your best to come up with some vague career aspirations or bullsh&t your way through it. Think of 2-3 year step and 3 to 5 year approach. I have done it multiple times, and it led absolutely nowhere!
