Probably the normal annual employee ranking and internal review garbage (MRR), although they could easily be planning more RIFs since DA mentioned the money added for restructuring during the Q3 call. They also must decide who's going to get the bonus money they are secreting stashing away again.

Hmmmm said a leader one day...
“If we design faster we make money faster"
“It is all about speed” said the FMS VP, “how can we go faster?”
A clever young Director from 34st whispered in an ear, “speed is a function of weight, we just need lighter products to go faster..”
“Ahhh” said the sleepy man with the Indian accent in the corner ... “what you want is more SOFTWARE, software is made of bits and bytes .. you can move that product at the speed of light”
“Genius !” said the tall polish man at the head of the table. “We will become a SOFTWARE company. I can’t wait to tell Dave as soon as he gets up from his nap, I think he took an ambien during the staff meeting.”
Imagine how much money we will save with engines and fms and brakes made entirely of bits and bytes.
Tell everyone to gather in Phoenix. We will tell everyone to start planning their next products to be software only. And call those clever lads that do the tools and have them whip up some generators to write the code automatically. Imagine a product that creates itself and moves at the speed of light. It is going to be a Transformation.

Remember that this is all about making the numbers. Those meetings are probably about how can we possibly deliver when we don’t have parts, people, or time.

Remember Honeywell is a Technology & software company. Honeywell doesn't make things anymore - takes too many people. So if you make things, they are trying to get rid of that. Honeywell would rather have the cash than the parts and people. The new Honeywell is that office tower in Charlotte. Everything else is for sale.

The announcement is two individual contributors must be fired in each group and then all first level managers must step down to the individual contributor level. This will eliminate a layer of management and ruin two peoples lives from each group.

They look at it like its a smorgasbord.... So many lives to ruin, so many customer to disappoint... where to start as they all huddle around a boiling caldron.

They are really in a corner now. Attrition has been high enough in some development groups to make programs impossible to execute. They aren’t cutting people now. They are cutting product lines.
That is tougher.
