ExxonMobil Gas Card

I got PIPed and left immediately and now working for another company. Is there any benefit of keeping my ExxonMobil gas card? Are there any discounts for past employees when ExxonMobil gas card is used? I am thinking of getting rid of it. Appreciate any information.

Only worth something if you retired with XOM.

I was PIL’ed. HR told me that, once I was off payroll, I would lose my discount. No skin off my back. I refuse to give this company my money. And my new job is fully remote so I’m only buying gas once a quarter.

In Houston prices can be similar to the grocery stores and Costco for Premium. Most of the time I use it with the car wash discount. We’ll see what happens but I’d keep it for the times when prices are similar u til I get that letter saying the discount is gone.

I kept my credit card when I retired after PIP that I didn't accept (2018). I would rather use it and get a discount than using another card or cash.
I understand not everyone wants to be loyal to a company.

You'll get a letter from the bank shortly which will confirm that you are no longer eligible and will not receive the discount/rebate. Once I got that there was truly no benefit so I closed my account.

@qzj - similar story to me. Retired, kept the card and switched to autopay from my bank account. There is a Mobil gas station a few miles away from my house, that offers a gasoline discount - car wash combo deal that is more attractive with the gas card discount added on. But most of the time, we go to a supermarket that sells the gasoline 20+ cents cheaper than the Exxon or Mobil stations, and also offers a discount for loyalty points.

Even with the Exxon discount the gas station down the street (Kroger brand) was cheaper after using their rewards program. I quit the Exxon card 10 years ago.

My supervisor told me I could still get the employee discount so I've continued to use it. Not sure if she was mis-informed or not. We'll see on the next statement. I never had it set-up as a payroll deduction so it wasn't like I had to do anything to get an alternate payment method set-up.
