Disgust with HR

I am sure that this post will be filled with mostly trolls, but I find that HR managment gets destroyed on this site. My experience has been that HR delivers great service compared to most companies, but the managment is untrusted by their direct reports and our normally silent HR professionals use this as an outlet to voice their frustration.

HR at Chevron is the epicenter of the corruption and dysfunction. They cover up for one another, advance careers within and manipulate recruiting, interviews ,, ranking and promotions, HR needs a rehaul starting with Sheila Watson and all those that have aided and contributed to her abuse of authority

Inhuman Resources at Chevron have no empathy for the employees.

I once got told at a town hall by the global HR PDR that to succeed at Chevron you need to bring your Oscar to work and when you go home you can be yourself!

Are you not surprised? I am disgusted at my function! No confidentiality, nepotism/ cronyism galore, purple circles... need i say more. Not to mention more than half the management are incompetent at their jobs and only got their jobs by brown nosing. And as the others mentioned RETALIATION! In order to succeed at Chevron don't speak up or out of turn otherwise you soon will wear a hatchet in your back!

"Some one in HR came up with how they can use employees air miles, reward points that employees accumulate during business travel".

No, no . no say it's NOT true that a Company our size is "nickel and dime-ing" business traveller's and requiring that air miles, hotel points and credit card rewards are NOW for the benefit of the Company. Maybe, next we can start charging employees for each cup of coffee they drink in the office.

HR is there to rip the employees off. Our vacation policy has become your PMP score. Some one in HR came up with how they can use employees air miles, reward points that employees accumulate during business travel. When any one complains against their supervisor, the HRBP's investigation always result in more mentoring for the accused. Talk about the hypocrite who is posting here ! Sorry yall are the lowest of the low.

I can’t believe that an HR person would post here. Isn’t there an HR board that would be less risky?

OP - I would say that using this site as an outlet to voice frustration is not exclusive to HR people at Chevron. You have a point, however because HR has to remain anonymous moreso than non-HR employees because of the lack of trust in the functional leadership. Retaliation is a real thing in HR even no matter what they say. If retaliation doesn't get you then clueless management will inhibit one from speaking up because most figure what is the point since complaints usually go ignored or unaddressed. At a town hall earlier this year, RM said she doesn't read this site but she encouraged everyone to use the Hotline. Kind of silly since the Hotline will just send you to EAP or Ombuds if no laws are being broken. Having said all that, I am sort of confused by your post. You say that HR people are too hard on the management even though you think the HR function is ok but then point out why someone would post on this site. Is your point that HR employees and not the managers are the ones to blame for the dysfunction?

HR managers that find out that your a great performer keep it very quiet in the PDCs, unless you are a loud (but not too loud) voice advocating for yourself. When you got placed in your current position it is business critical....but not critical enough for you to get promoted or allowed to post for a better position. GMs dont care about you and your career goals, all they care about is if you can make them look good. EOIed with a much better job in tech.

Just be a straight-white man and you have no problem moving up in your career. They over promote them all the time and then have to fire them when they cause worker revolts.
