Global Projects: Status of Involuntary Selection?

Any supervisor or higher want to shed more light on the status of the involuntary selection and how people are being selected in this so-called “spreadsheet”? All I have to date is an unhelpful email from our supervisor to our section basically saying “best of luck”. Would appreciate any honest status or insight on this process which is currently not being shared by our immediate management.

There is little work in many parts of Global Projects. Some work is planning oriented and adds little value - they might have more cuts. The list is still being decided.

  1. In reality nobody will know the final list of personnel to be let go until very close to the end. The lowest performers (obvious candidates) should already be gone by now. The list will continue to be tweaked up to the final days based upon the depth of cuts required. Be skeptical of anything you hear to the contrary.
  1. Selections will not be made based strictly on ranking (performance), but on a combined ranking and expected business need. For example, a bucket 2 person working a low value/probability project could be released before a bucket 3 person working a more valuable project (in lieu of transferring the higher ranked person to the active area and releasing the lower ranked person). To be clear situations will be assessed on a case by case basis, this is not a hard rule.
  1. A third factor will be protected classes. Don’t be surprised to see suspected low performers survive based upon their status. Again, this is not a hard rule but will certainly be a factor in close calls.
  1. Try not to worry about it, the list is not in your control. Worrying will not change anything and will only make you more unhappy.

They are still gauging the size of the involuntary group but based on what I’ve heard about the take rate for the voluntary package, it will be on the larger side.

I am close to two managers and both independently have said they are not involved yet. Not even a hint of having to sign an NDA either. I think the first list will be provided based on senior Management input first.

After the voluntary program ends the management team will know how many on the list need to go and will then start to get granular imho.
