Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Remote work is 'here to stay' — even with a vaccine, says former IBM CEO

IBM has trimmed its older businesses over the years to focus on the cloud, in an attempt to make
up for slowing software sales and seasonal demand for its mainframe servers.

And expect the trimming to accelerate and increase in volume, along with IBM dumping a lot of real estate and likely another divestiture.

She allowed work from home during her years running IBM. Then they had a big push to bring everyone back to the office. It was either come back to an approve office / plant or you would hvae to leave IBM. Many older IBMers who were given permission to work remotely then faced a choice, leave IBM or relocate back to an approved location. Many, if not most left IBM. IBMs way of doing an RA without doing an RA.

She personally pushed for colocation while CEO, so WFH is yet another trend she missed during her tenure.

"IBM has trimmed its older businesses over the years to focus on the cloud"? LIE. IBM has laid off tens of thousands of workers to prop up the dividend for the executives.

"Hybrid Cloud" and working from home (remote work) have literally nothing to do with each other.
IBM is trying to insert the word "Hybrid" into every interview they do.
