Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Don’t be too quick to quit right now

I’ve seen a few people say they are on the verge of quitting. I understand a lot of you are not happy here for very good reasons, but is this really a time to be considering quitting? Unless you have a new job already lined up (in which case goodbye and good luck!) you would be putting yourself in a really bad position. Just my opinion.

If you stay - you are a fool. Waiting around to see if you get laid-off is id–tic.

Other companies pay much more. Best decision ever when I finally dissed Honeywell.

Make you sure your last day is a few weeks after the match deadline so there is no abiguity and they dont screw you out of that. Dont let Honeyhell take your hard earned money while they intimidate and threaten you to work 60 hours a week.

You lose the match if you don't stay until dec 16th I think. January is a better month.

But find a job 1st. Having a job makes you MUCH more impressive to HR headhunters.

Even better, if you can get Honeywell to pay for security clearance, you will get flooded with offers.

I am thinking about quitting now, I hate this job and and am unhappy with my life. I haven’t found a new one yet but have enough saved for a few months and a fiance who can support if needed. I’m a little worries about my 401k match in january though, can they take it away even if I’ve worked here most of the year?

If you are looking for a way out, change your settings on linkedin to show recruiters you are open to work. (Or find recruiters to help you out) There are lots of opportunities even during this time.

I tried to VRIF 3X and they keep saying no. So, I do as little as possible to hang on for my match and 3 weeks of year end holidays and unlimited vacay.

If you would not buy a stock today why would you hold it? Same goes for a job. Look up the TED talk by Shi Heng Yi on the 5 hindrances. Helped me when I decided to take action. Much happier and productive in new smaller company.

Quitting is a good idea. Has Honeywell ever been a good place to work? Its best to just perform as sub-par as you can until you find a new job. Make sure you dont give them any notice. Just stop showing up. Then go and enjoy your new and improved life.

Yea! I hope DA is threatening MM on the daily and asking him why nothing is shipping and why the backlog isn't getting burned down. Turns out you actually DO need to keep enough serfs around to row the ship. If you dismiss half of them, maybe the other half stops caring about rowing instead of agreeing to get worked twice as hard for the same pay.

I can just hear it now...."yes D@rius I told them they're lucky to have their jobs. I cut most of the workforce like I was taught....I'm a good boy!!!"..." Yes I know it's not getting better and I don't know what to do....the ones that are left are leaving on their own and I think I cut too many people"....."but I made those quarter numbers though!!!!" "I can't keep cutting heads or there won't be anyone left at all!!!" "Me? I'm next? But I'm a good boy! I did all the threats just like you told me to!"

OP sounds like a desperate Aero HR hack. Have you noticed all the HON jobs posted on LinkedIn and other sites? Guess the layoffs and mass exodus have hit HON where it hurts. Grovel, ALT, grovel. It won't do any good. You've made it clear how you feel about us for years. You reap what you sow.

What if you're 59 and have sound finances. People with a lot of knowledge are being pushed over the edge into retirement. There is no point to try to exit gracefully anymore because Hon doesn't like people. So retirements come quickly and the guy that knew a lot is suddenly gone and so is that knowledge. A newere youger person is told to "just do it". Haerd when you don't know what was being done.

Agree. Get the new job and then just ghost Honeywell. People say oh that's unprofessional and this and that and if this were the 1950s; I'd absolutely agree with them. But this is 2020 and HON will drop you like a hot rock without even giving it a second thought, so why do we as employees have to risk the two week notice? Just do what HON does and terminate your employment effective same day.

You better quit them before they quits you first. It’s gonna happen, Just a matter of when.

I agree with OP. It's a really tough market out there. I've been looking around with no luck for quite a while. Just make sure you can keep that food on the table and roof over your head before you take the leap.

Get a new job and give them a 2-day (today) notice. Better get, just ghost then and let them call you at your new office number. The longer you stay with aero the worse it will be for your health and finances. Don’t believe me, just stay and find out!

Just a piece of advice... accept the new company job offer and then make sure you physically step foot on the property as a fully fledged employee. DO NOT QUIT WITH THE OFFER PROMISE! I hear of company’s changing their minds on an offer after they ‘decide’ the business environment changed from offer to first day. (Hence you have no job or recourse). These are tough times guys and it requires extra caution on employees behalf. Screw or be screwed!

Mental health and well-being is over and above more important than making sure HON's stockholders get paid. If it has gotten to that point, it's time to tell your boss "buh-bye".

Oh... there is many of us actively looking. Don’t worry they will receive a solid 2 day notice when that day comes.
