Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Insane Layoff Cycle

Cisco is providing the illusion of transparency to avoid any real risk. They also have been in this insane layoff cycle for DECADES, keeping employees in a permanent state of fight or flight fear. Draining and toxic. ITS ALL FAKE.

Managers in our area are being bumped up to directors, getting FAT raises. It’s all just a power shift and sicko VP’s play the survivors like puppets. Disgusting.

@yuf+17TNlAPl don't forget new grads who stay for a year or two before bailing on this toxic dumpster fire

Ok... I’m flattered you cut/pasted my exact post, word for word, from two weeks ago. I guess that’s fine. No points for creativity or truthfulness though.

Perhaps that lack of creativity will only add to Cisco’s downfall.

Layoff Cycles like this are a death spiral. It is the sign of a company that does not care about workers. Unfortunately for the workers, they are at the mercy of the goals of Execs. Execs answer to the board and shareholders. Their only goal is stock price. The only way to move it up with garbage products is reduce labor cost. Your only choice is to accept you are a Roulette Wheel employee. You are one of the 38 numbers on the board and every 6 months they will spin that ball 6-10 times.

Sad but that is not leadership.

Cisco VPs look for submissive labor they can exploit for low compensation. You don't become a SVP or higher at Cisco by being a kind person.

  • H1Bs
  • Temps workers without benefits
  • Outsource work to developed countries

We just have to leave when we can. The leadership prefers the rotating door policy because then their accountability stays low.

Only those get into true leadership positions that are vetted as being compliant to this sort of thought process.
