Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Who would you fire?

Cisco IBN strategy is in shambles. DNAC is the worst ever product in Cisco history and they have lost more $$ revenue to competition than actually selling the product. Its so bad that people don't even want to talk about it... Who would you fire, Scott H or Ravi C–a or Both?

Cisco has competing product lines and Gartner reflected it in their latest MQ. While execs are pocketing their large salary, shares and bonuses - Cisco is losing big time to Aruba and MIST. Todd is nowhere with the strategy - I wonder when is hammer time for Todd?

With WFH it’s not like any vendor will be selling much networking ever again.

Todd Nightingale knows DNAC is a joke. The question is what will he do now that he is in charge of everything. Re-double effort on DNA-Cloud (which is pretty weak also)? Punt and start over with new Catalyst management? Develop a Dashboard like management product for Catlalyst switches?

It took 8 years of evolution for Prime, which always stunk. Now DNAC (developed by the same clown show) also stinks 4 years into it. Still can't even do table stakes like archive a Catalyst config file - something Ciscoworks did 25 years ago.

I would fire most of Cisco's engineering staff. I left Cisco several years ago. Currently interviewing candidates for open engineering positions. Very disappointed in the poor quality of the Cisco employees being interviewed. Cisco engineering has greatly declined. I'm going to start excluding Cisco candidates from consideration. The candidates s— up too much time and don't meet minimum requirements.

Catalyst 9000 with DNA is cheaper than Catalyst 3000 was, you donkeys.

Why would you ask for a discount for a SKU you don't want to purchase? It's just a new cost to make vendors recurring revenue increase which the customer is paying for.

Competitor here - I don’t understand why customers should be posting here. If they really were customers they would ask for discounts from the org, I know ours do all the time.

Customer here: So Cisco sell the new 9200 and 9300 switches for example and you must purchase DNAC subscription. For what? If you can config switches with CLI and already have management tools ,you still are FORCED to pay subscription for some c-ap you don't need. hence we don't use Cisco switches this time round. I know if you buy 50 or so, they throw in the appliance but we did not want it...

Some VPs or SVPs are surviving by making very good presentations at conference and acting like they know everything. They lack the low level technical knowledge of their own BU. Some of them don’t even have a technical degree.
Some of them are responsible for migration of top talent in Cisco or lack of good talents in some groups.

Cisco systems experience is still good on your resume. You need to ace the interview and answer the technical questions. I would say 50-60 percent of cisco engineers are very good engineers and any company will be ready to welcome them.
Success depends on your ability to learn, focus on things, persist and ideas.

I took Cisco off my CV. Told the interviewer I had been in Prison for 8 years. I was a priority hire to get their diversity numbers up on rehabilitation.

People don't seem to realize Cisco on the resume is now a strike against you in the Bay Area. Felonies, DUI, s-xual Harassment and Cisco are all red flags.

Both should be held accountable. I am sure the company is paying them millions of dollars and yet the product they built is so amateurish that it is not even deployable after 2 years of massive investments across the board. It is on constant life support. If you are an engineer there, look out - because my friend was an engineer there and it was difficult for him to find a job outside once he showed his association to DNAC - that was strike-two (association to Cisco was strike-one). So, it will come down to that. Your career. No point blaming the execs; at this point just focus on saving your career.

"kiss up, piss down" ... how to become a SVP at Cisco without accomplishing anything

Most of the management is terrible. DNAC, APIC, FMC, etc. Meraki GUI is good, provided the feature set is "good enough" for the customer. UCS Manager was a good GUI and solution, but the product seems to dying off. Intersight is good, but few customers use it (even when its free). Teams has zero adoption outside Cisco. But it is all just enough to keep the earning going - for now,

Fire the Australian IOT Dir and his cronies that followed Liz with more PowerPoint fiction

You have to start by firing Liz Centoni. There is no more incompetent exec at Cisco and her continued presence gives the others an excuse for their own incompetence. “Yeah, but he’s not as bad as Liz...”

What on earth does she have on Chuck that they allow her to persist?
