Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T needs to get back to its roots

I absolutely loved my time with AT&T and acquired an incredible set of skills and training in Product Development, Product Management, Scaled Agile, Security, Digital Marketing, BI, the list goes on and on. By the time I was trained up, funding started vanishing, many of my peers were laid off, and I saw the writing on the wall, especially for locations outside of TX, CA, and NJ.

That's what led me to look outside AT&T where I quickly found that I was way way way underpaid for the work I was doing. I wanted to stay and tried to stay at AT&T but essentially doubled my pay by going to a new company.

I would certainly consider going back but it's going to take a while to rebuild the hardworking, groundbreaking innovation arm that AT&T once had. I'm confident they will return to that but they need to take a deep hard look at companies like GE where innovation stopped, they got rid of their true creative talent who understand culture, art, and innovation. You can't "invent" without the right bones in the org. AT&T, it's time to get back to your roots, make new products that everyone in America wants and that makes lives easy and fun!

oldgeezer is right ....a con job ...just like almost every other buzzword process changes, the consultants cash the checks, some exec profits from the kick backs, and the company suffers from a severe hit on productivity as we "pivot' or "lean in" to the new process.

mean while there are plenty of us rank and file IT (oldgeezer prb being one of them) that have offered numerous suggestions on how to improve our processes without paying millions to the consultants du jour

Scaled Agile? (Aka SaFE) WTF IF there ever was a corporate con job for developers that WAS IT.

scaled Agile is nothing more than a money grab from every corporate consulting company , makes development more obtuse less productive and is nothing more than theater to give managers warm and fuzzy metrics that their developers are productive..

Scaled Agile is my Susquenhha Hat Company (reference to old Abbot and Costello bit)

Non sense, cut the fat, if you dont preform, add value, add to the bottom line, maintain the bottom line off you go. Be good stewards of stock holders money, do away with them. Wasted money on direct tv, warner media, could of spent that money building a fiber network to homes, new towers and giving the people what they want. Not what the company thinks they may need. They want a big well greased dumb pipe to work and entertain over. Be a public utilities company.
