If any XOM employee has doubts as to whether the company cares about you, get real. The answer is NO. They NEVER have, and certainly not now. XOM screws everyone sooner or later, whether worker bees, managers, or even execs. I KNOW!! Retired now, thank goodness. They are truly a company without a soul. Senior management has ALWAYS been weak, esp. guys like Lee Raymond and Darren Woods. Tillerson not much better. They care ONLY about enhancing their personal wealth. Everything is a con job on employees, contractors and employees. I wish you all well, but if you stay long enough at XOM, you WILL get screwed over many times. Life has to be better elsewhere. For the old timers like me, you are staying only for the pension. I hope it is there for you.

I noticed Shell announced 9000 employee layoffs and stated about 1500 took voluntary redundancy. More pressure on EM to enhance the severance package over the 3 month salary they have been offering.

OP. Agree. Your question did seem simple / not offensive. But I think you may have set a couple of these folks off due to the following:
1 many folks let go already (esp. in Singapore and US) have been screwed already and your question rubs salt on the situation. Many employees think the situation has been handled poorly whether they were personally affected or not. Clearly some folks were poor performers and needed to go while some were not. But the implementation lacked honesty which has cost the company credibility internally.
2 assuming you are an employee and not a troll, you didn’t specify where you are. Different countries are going to see different incentives for people to leave due to local labor law / local custom. Places like the US and SG where employment protections tend to be lower may have worse incentives or just subjected to another round of outright terminations. Obviously the more people the company wishes to leave in a given country, the more likely the incentives are to be relatively generous for that country.
