For layoffs of this magnitude the WARN act requires affected employees be provided 60 days notice. Contrary to other posters' contentions, the notice need not take any particular form, so long as it is reasonably calculated to provide the affected employees notice that they may or may not be separated in not less than 60 days. Scott's 08/10/2020 email served this purpose—it was not contrived simply to leave you all in the dark and demoralized for two months. 60 days from 08/10 is 10/09/2020, or next Friday. Because that will be the 60th day, layoffs cannot commence until the following workday—Monday, 10/12/2020. This suggests all those saying new positions will be solidified on the 12th speak truthfully. For everyone here speculating wildly as to zero hour, 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12th seems more reasonable than any other. (9:00 a.m., because that's when they started last time.) It may come later in the week, but I think any sooner highly unlikely.

Except some layoffs already happened. So there is that.
They could also be waiting until PTRs are over...
The warn act applies but also according to the warn act because they give a month worth of extra pay in lieu of notice, they can cut anytime after the 30 day mark.
But because of the size of the package I thought the warn act does not matter....
