Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

ATTENTION BNYM MANAGERS

When a phishing email test is distributed to employees, it is not appropriate to warn the employees to NOT click on it. It defeats the purpose of the test. Instead of employees learning how to think for themselves, you are creating a bunch of mindless robots.

The fact that these warning emails originate at the level of Managing Director is a complete embarrassment.

I clicked the email knowing it was a test hoping it puts me on the list to get let go sooner than later.

Managers don’t trust employees to not be id–ts. If a managers team all fall for the phish then the manager looks bad so the untrusting manager tells their team ahead of time because they are id–ts.

Just stupid numbers to hold managers “accountable” to. Like BKU compliance numbers. “Oh no, two people on your team have training due in 55 days, what the hell is wrong with you?!” What a joke.

Yes @wzg, it happens all the time

And I also get the heads up about the call tree test. I know many others who do as well, so it isn’t isolated to one managing director and his incompetent managers.

My less than smart manager also always lets us know when the BR Call Tree Test is - just to make sure we all answer the phone. Heaven forbid that we conduct a truly random test that would be indicative of a real emergency. Just another example of managers being frightened of the facts and not wanting to "look bad".

That's hillarious but it's so true. I remember head of a dept in Dublin telling all of her reports that mail was a test and forewarned everyone. Absolute amateurs.
