Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Interviewing people with Oracle experience

Left Oracle early in the year. Now interviewing data and cloud people left and right, and a consistent theme is that companies are migrating off of Oracle databases to Azure or AWS services (Google who? Sorry, Kurian).

We did interview ONE guy who had experience in OCI as a real customer (as opposed to an acquisition). To his credit, he loved it, but conceded it's "resume death".

In fact, working for a company that migrated to OCI (with some Azure of Office 365) is the primary driver for him looking... again, resume death.

“ Interview question, if you have 1 bucket that holds two gallons and another bucket that holds 5 gallons how buckets do you have?”

Is that an exhaustive list. I may have other buckets, like the one I have to kick someday!

I (OP) was turning down offers, as well. I was anxious to leave, but I didn't accept them because every. single. one of them was migrating AWAY from Oracle products, and I was concerned about longevity in the opportunities.

I made the quality choice to choose a job which didn't have any Oracle tools or platform in the J/D.

Best. Choice. Evar.

Working with anything Oracle on your resume is resume death.

Get yourselves together and get out. The best have already left, but there are still good people lazing around at Oracle who should be looking out for their own interests.
