Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

How many more managers are there at UP with degrees from diploma mills that haven’t been fired?

Names locations or yards with managers with fake degrees.

If you believe these degrees are easy and you don't actually learn something, and you yourself did not punch the easy button to improve your income for you and your family, then who is the wiser one?

Normally the uneducated are the ones that say a college degree is worthless. Either they’re too lazy or not smart enough to further their education.

They just ruminate over and over about the same things because they have nothing else. Armchair quarterbacks mad because in the 4th inning they finally gotta work after all these years. Gravy train is over.

Post ID: @exw No thanks. Going to Bellevue or Phoenix lets people know you have poor judgment and makes you unemployable outside of Union Pacific management. Most people with these degrees learn to leave them off their resume.

I fixed your grammar mistakes.

“We’re grateful VA intends to suspend enrollment of new GI Bill students at these institutions,” said Carrie Wofford, president of Veterans Education Success, an advocacy group. “This sends a powerful message … that the federal government and taxpayers will no longer tolerate schools that seek to defraud veterans and other military-connected students out of their hard-earned federal education benefits.”

Bellevue....the pride of Omaha and Union Pacific.....

I’m surprised that people don’t know the difference between misspelled words and a typo.

It is better to have no degree than to go to a subpar school and waste time, money, and effort.

I don't know how much what name is printed all nice and pretty on your piece of paper means. In our area we've seen guys without degrees and some with online ones that I really believed would be C level some day. Then we had a few from big names (Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Stanford) that I wondered who tied their shoes for them.

I'm not saying degrees are or aren't worthless, but if you're pretty sharp it really doesn't (and shouldn't) matter.

But a degree DOES teach you how to spell your. In fact, most with a 2nd grade education can. What happened to you?

Having a college degree does not raise you intelligence level or you decision making skills . The degree program was instituted by college graduates who decided to protect there degrees. Some of the best managers originated from the track guys and Carmen and mechanical departments
I started with a spike maul , and retired as a manager after many years of hard work and listening to the old heads . They knew Railroad 101 which is what we used to do
Unlike these glorified clerk's who spend the whole day prepping for the morning call , to keep from getting your arse ripped

People learn a lot more with a GED than a high school diploma. In high school, all you have to do is show up and have a pulse.

Bellevue is definitely a diploma mill and was on the list of schools by the VA to have their access to the gi bill removed per the Washington post. Looks like we offended a manager. Go to a real school and man up.

Why does this even matter? When I started on the RR you did not need a degree to go into management as long as you had five years work experience. There are still managers working that don’t have degrees.

University of Phoenix is the favorite of mechanical department managers. The ones running the shops with legitimate degrees were a threat to the diploma mill degree holders so they cut them to protect themselves.
