Highly doubtful.
Single digits by YE21 are much more likely than $50 in any foreseeable future. Sadly for this once great company, the only way is down.
You will see $25/share before you see $50.
Never going to 50. D/S needs to shutter a lot of refineries (across the industry). U/S has the Permian that will always be the swing producer on the supply side and challenged demand (even if it stays up near 100MBO). Just not seeing how that outlook can produce the kind of money that was earned ten years ago. Yes it’s cyclical, but looking at OUR OWN energy outlook you see the energy mix historically was always changing, one area is not growing forever.
Quotes from your article. Good lord the spread on that. If there is 4.2 billion shares outstanding, that means analysts are forecasting a loss of 2.85 billion to a gain of 0.3 billion. Given peak of pandemic losses of 1.1 billion (can argue Q3 is better than Q2 for O&G) analysts haven't a clue as to what is going on!!!
"The company on Thursday listed a number of factors that could impact its earnings such as oil and gas prices, refining margins and sales volumes, suggesting that Exxon's numbers could range from a loss of 68 cents to a profit of 7 cents. The calculation was based on inputs from the company and analysts."
3Q results indicate a company wide loss. Cash on hand indicate another quarter or 2 of current dividend payments...
I think you are a few years out (if ever) for $50 share price.
