I read the agreement where Dell will pay for COBRA for 2 months. After the 2 months is up, has anybody continued with COBRA or find another insurance carrier while still looking for job?

My COBRA is about to end in a week. In Texas is not mandatory to have health insurance and you don't have to pay the penalty. I'll just look around and see what the cheapest plan out there. Insurance is exorbitantly expensive!
In Mass and I opted for Cobra (4 now). $1480 mo (Me+spouse) It's Med/Script/Dental and Vision. Way more than the $260 per month whilst employed. that's 17,760 yr folks!! We'll see what happens after the election. BTW, if you miss one 1st of month payment you are kicked off COBRA . Then I get fined for not having insurance.
When I was laid off, my family and I qualified for Washington state’s Apple health insurance plan. I didn’t have to pay a dime while on unemployment. Different states are different, but be sure to check your state’s marketplace.
$2000 a month for a family plan. We have pre existing conditions within our family and I was hesitant to switch plans. I recently learned that companies do not pay taxes on employee health insurance which I found interesting.
I left Dell voluntarily last year(no layoff) and replaced my Dell Cobra($800) with a great deal using the ACA aka Obamacare. Same or better coverage for under $200(Silver plan). SIgn up quickly since the Republicans will be deleting it soon via Supreme Court. You may be grandfathered or something.
Just go to healthcare.gov. Note: ACA does not subsidize you if you earn too much annually which means your policy may cost more.
$652 for me (single coverage) in MA
Just got my first bill it was 552.00 for just me
It's costing me around $1000 for just me. Insurance here is ridiculous!
About $1400 for me and 3 dependents in Texas. I hate this healthcare system. Have not found anything comparable for a lower price yet.
Mine was $462 Wich included me and 3 kids in CO
I live in Texas so it could be different. I remember my COBRA cost around $500. Kind of pricey but I know there might be short term insurance out there while looking for a job.
I’ve used COBRA several times in the past, but that was with BCBS Mass, not Illinois. It’s expensive, but comparable with equivalent plans I had access to at the time. It was simpler just to keep it for 18 months while I was ramping up my own business.
I was laid off a few months back from Dell in Massachusetts, and the cost of Dell COBRA after the 2 month coverage was ridiculous - somewhere around $2,000 or more a month I think (family plan). By better, if you mean cheaper then yes you can find that. I signed up for a lower-level Fallon plan on the Mass Health Connector website for about $1,200 a month just for medical, no dental. You can also sign up for higher-level plans if you want but then the price starts going up quickly. If your income drops below a certain level you might be able to qualify for MassHealth - the state's subsidized health plan. Overall, health insurance in this country is a joke and most are one procedure away from being bankrupt!
I reviewed it when they sent me the info. It was almost 700.00 a month just for medical. I opted not to go with Cobra, you can find better plans on your own.
