Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

T has learned that running the business into the ground gets them free government money,true to the liberal lifestyle they embrace.

This is ATM/DSL and not IP/DSL like uverse.

AT&T with its huge debt (over $150B) - will not have the money to expand FTTH. Stinkey and other clueless leaders ruined the company by poor and unwise acquisitions (i.e. DTV) - instead of using that money to invest in fiber. These id–ts are criminals in my opinion: they ruined the company but are still stealing money with huge pay raises and limitless benefits. In the meantime, hardworking employees pay the price.

Why am I reading this here? Did I miss an email announcement or something?

yep the country's broadband is bad. hey but att has hbo max that they went into 180 billion dollars in debt for and rand is getting 200000 a month so there really is not a problem because all the vps and ceos are taken care of for life and generations to come.

Lol, If a customer is on dsl right now it’s because there is no other telco option. Bye, bye trailer trash!

Actually, my Lake home is too far back on my acreage to get anything else.
No, it's not a trailer. Very nice home. My closest neighbor, 3 miles away can get satellite internet, but I have too many trees.
I can get Spectrum 200M service at my other house.
Trailer trash...hahahahhaha

We didn't have DSL but still had a copper landline. AT&T said "we won't support it anymore" and gave us about 2 months to find something else claiming they would guarantee the price and features on fiber that we used to have on copper.

Call us dinosaurs also, and I don't care, but it WORKED when other people lost power which IS the important feature we wanted with the copper line that was worth it to us to pay more to keep it all this time. And our neighbors also used our phone in those times. But no way are we paying AT&T the SAME copper price when we can add it to our tv/internet plan given we've lost the "no electric still works" feature.

They lost another customer.

There’s a local exchange that they have shut off any new dsl. You move you lose dsl. The office has no fiber support for the UVERSE network. These people will have nothing when it is all done. LTE only covers about a third of the exchange.

This has actually been going on for years. DSL has been retired in place in many COs. It won’t have as big of an impact as you may think.

Is this meaning just the original atm dsl service or does it also include the newer Uverse packet ip dsl platform?

dsl is probably faster than att's fiber

I did retire. Last year after 41 years. At 59
Took my large tech pension and 401K and retiree health benis.
My wife retired as well, and got the same.
Call me a dinosaur or whatever you want.
You'll never see it rookie.

My employee retiree Uverse-all copper- was 6-8 meg for $39 a month.
I got Spectrum 100M for $44 a month.
T just doensn't get it.

AT&T spokesman said: "Current DSL customers will be able to continue their existing service or where possible upgrade to our 100% fiber network.”..LOL
