Merit Raises

If salary employees "earn" merit raises even though Ford has lost $7 billion so far this year, does that mean they get raises regardless how how bad company performance is?

Whoever posted below about the increase in TA's for year 2019 PR's is correct.

I believe HR did this to tilt the scales so younger - shorter tenured employees would supplant older performers and survive SRD and future head count reductions.

So the top executives combined the earned more in 2019 than the company did. How can anyone have earned a bonus for 2019’s abysmal performance? Asking for a shareholder.

The raises were for last year performance not this year. 2. We were originally suppose to get the increase in April it got pushed back to October so again this is based on last year's performance.

@eld Getting rid of the Union would create a huge revolving door where you would be spending more time training new employees than actually making cars.

"unless you are a "top performer" which is only 1 out of hundreds of GSRs"

you may be mistaken about the % of TA given out during last January's PR's.

The rules have kinda changed. Tons of TA's as opposed to years prior. Somehow HR changed the scales and gave out more participation trophies without the $$$$$$ as opposed to years prior.

If I were to become the CEO of this company or any auto OEM (dreaming big is step 1 ;), then first thing I would do is hire fresh factory workers train them good, and get rid of the union. Utilize the funds saved for merit increase of the salaries work force !

"Merit raises" are essentially cost of living increases. It's like a ~2% increase, unless you are a "top performer" which is only 1 out of hundreds of GSRs, then you get a ~3% increase.

Some people have p-ss-d off the wrong person and get no cost of living increase, sorry, I mean "merritt raise".

I think this person is referring to Union jobs that gets pay increases regardless of how the company (or they as individuals) perform.
