Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike CIS

CIS monitors everything you do on your computer and logs it - not in Excel but in the cloud where it's kept for 7 years. They also monitor your mobile phone activity if you installed the MDM apps. It is highly searchable in the event it needs to be and kicks off reports that have AI built-in to "predict" any potential issues.

Acting on any of it is at the discretion of your manager, HR, ER or anyone who wants to find any reason at all to let you go. That being said, a lot of big companies do this too - they just don't seem to weaponize it against their employees like this one seems to.

I worked as a white badge for a year and they had me work on my own personal pc for the whole time. I still have all the emails and attachments in my outlook. They have no idea how to really keep information safe.

Digital Guardian is of minimal anti-malware value. It is being used as an unauthorized USB storage blocker which can block a malware laden USB stick brought from home or found in the parking lot from infecting a corporate machine.

DLP's primary role is to inspect files/data that are being sent out to authorized USB sticks, third party storage sites, email, ftp, etc. It can look for embedded tags that mark a file as being proprietary such as intellectual property or confidential internal communications. (do not try to email that message from the CEO to your home address as that will be noticed) DLP also looks for patterns in data that meet certain criteria such as looking like a pile of social security or credit card numbers.

There is an entire team with the job of investigating all and responding to the most serious DLP alerts.

Digital Guardian is the second DLP solution deployed at Nike and has been around for over a year.

Digital Guardian has been installed on my computer since March 10th before the pandemic lockdown. I wouldn't panic. It's a data loss prevention software designed to stop malware according to the Internet.

what is Digital Guardian and why was it installed on my PC on Sept 29? Worse, I can see that it was installed by Nike Tools on that date, but it doesn't show up in my Apps under System Settings or in my desktop area... implying they tried to hide it. Should I assume the worst?

someone mentioned on another thread that he/she was sure that an app had been installed on his/her computer to prevent/monitor the transfer of files to another computer as part of the termination process... does anyone know anything about this and what I should look for?

I was at Nike for a few years and got the whole "scared straight" experience about how they monitor everything, so don't even try it. I broke a lot of "rules" like using my company issued laptop to surf the web and moved files from it to the cloud or USB all the time. Maybe my manager just didn't give a c-ap? Dunno, but nothing ever happened to me.
