Message from this morning-Despite the significant steps we have already taken, there is still more to do. Most importantly, we must continue efforts to structurally improve the earnings and cash flow performance of the corporation. Fortunately, the work we have done over the past few years has positioned us well. Our investment portfolio remains the strongest in industry, and the organizational changes we’ve made are enabling further improvement opportunities - many of which were in progress prior to the pandemic. Over the last several months, we have accelerated these opportunities while pacing investments.As part of this effort, each organization has undertaken a country-by-country assessment to determine staffing requirements. Studies for Australia and affiliates in Europe have been completed and communicated to employees. We expect to finalize the remaining studies over the next several months.I know this work brings added uncertainty to already stressful times. I also know that these decisions can have significant impacts on our colleagues and friends. We are working hard to complete these reviews as quickly as possible, while ensuring a thoughtful and thorough assessment.I understand the added burden all of this brings, but these actions are necessary to ensure the long-term success of the company. The work we are doing today will result in a more efficient organization that will emerge stronger and better able to compete through the price cycles inherent in our commodity-based business.
Well, the outside hire, PR Global Communications guy, finally got to craft and send his first official EM email for Darren.
Had to give the new pr guy time to settle in.

But Darren.. you didn’t participate in the battle.. you don’t deserve to be part of the victory parade (if there is any)..

Yayayay!! We’ve all been waiting for that. Darren is amazing! Now he can go back for the next 6 months, and then we can get another email from him. Town hall what though??!! Is he going to tell us all we’ll be like that lady in that last town hall - like we will be fired and then we will call him back to tell him how happy we are working somewhere else?
What an amazing leader! Courage to hold a town hall seven months into the pandemic once the new “plan” is ready! Get ready for a bunch of new broken promises! Yep O&G is not a “beauty competition” but it is a “cost competition” so deriding analysts when they question your devotion to high cost low realization oil sands is just absurd...
Did he express fake empathy and claim he could also lose his job and end up losing one of his vacation homes?
