As a wire tech of 10 years in the Southeast, this has me p-ss-d. How is it that you can put jobs on the external website, I don’t care if they are temporary, and don’t give us an opportunity!! If I lost my job after the term is over at LEAST I had an opportunity to make $36-38 an hour while I look for a new job. This is absolute c-ap. CWA allows for excessive surplus every quarter and says there’s “no work” in the CORE but we haven’t gotten any opportunity in years. Yet there are core openings in my own city.

I see a lot of open positions in career path. Are they genuine or they already have a candidate and posting it for kicks.. nepotism in full flow if that is the case.
I was laid off and about 6 months later a contract job came around. But, I had taken my separation pay in weekly installments under a program called "extended compensation". Because I did, I maintained active AT&T employee status, with benefits, 401k deductions and so forth.
Because I hadn't lost my AT&T active employee status for 6 months prior to the contract job offer, it involves some sort of pension law if I'm rehired, even as a contractor before 6 months expired, so I didn't get the job. That was the only reason. A very nice person from HR explained it all to me.

There are many yards throughout California that have term lineman openings on the external sight with the caveat that they do not rehire any that termed out already in July 2019...
At that’s how CWA & T treat us! After 20 years, been surplussed out of C&E 3X! I resigned out of CWA in August, no one from my local even bothered to call & ask why! I’m 2.25 hours richer per month! No regrets!
