Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Beat the surge

I’m quitting so I can focus all my efforts on job search. If you are in Houston and want to stay get out now so you can beat the surge.

3-4 year employee here. I got out, and make about 15% less as well. Better hours, better vacation, happier people, and best of all Houston won't be the pinnacle of my career. I should be making more than I was in a year or two given that anyone at Exxon is unlikely to receive a raise for the next 5 years. Maybe if oil shoots up to $200 / barrel they'll let people travel and spend $50 on meals while management gets a few million in compensation for being lucky enough to ride the price of a commodity up

I got out, I am a engineer now working in healthcare, totally different field, but i'm making good money (15% cut in overall compensation) but they still have 401K match and are growing. Hours are better and people are happier, no b.s. ranking system either. You apply for jobs if you want to move up in the company and interview. None of this backdealing b.s. developed back in the 18th century.

If you have the chance to move on, take it because you will probably get to work for a company that isn’t one of the most hated on the planet.

Well - I count 3 or 4 voluntary departures in this thread. With no cushion.

Yes, I’m looking at several options... buying an existing small business is the leading option right now.

I’m not going to justify being dishonest and get paid to job hunt. My integrity matters to me even if it doesn’t matter to you or the company. Stay, you will fit right in.

Really dumb thing you can do. I know many are using their WFH hours to prepare for their exit.. and job search.. you get paid! And what is the worse than can happen. 3 months PIL and you can get paid till next year!! In addition, potential chance for severance package.. no incentive to quit.. just take your pay check.. and work on what is important

So, I hear you all saying you are getting out. Where are you all going? What companies are you looking at?

You are right. With all the oil companies doing the same thing the early bird gets the worm applies here
