I wish I never work for either company. Both are bad, no projects, a lot of corporate bs, diversity c-ap, kissing a..,etc. While I like better discipline at XOM CXO has more interesting work. A lot of s—ing and politics at both places. And dont worry, EM will not crush, I am not worried for that part....

@1jyu+17jYLoKN EM is still a better company? Lol your information is dated.. Based on the recent actions.. it’s clear which company is better managed. Hint: not the one paying us our monthly wage

I have worked for both. While XOM is better company, CVX is a better place to work. So they may be able to actually retain talent better. If oil demand goes back to pre COVID days, XOM will be much higher.

With that being said XOM definitely burned $50 BN on XTO and seems to have burnt a lot on other projects like Kashagan. CVX had a lot of dumb spend on Gorgon / Wheatstone.

20 years ago, ExxonMobil’s market cap was 3 times of Chevron’s, Look now. Do people really think EM has been better run?

Again, the difference is Chevron is calling a layoff a layoff and providing a severance in the U.S. EM is just kicking employees to the street with no severance and trying fool everyone in the process.

Things are not rosy over at Chevron either - massive assets writedowns, and targeted 15% staff reduction worldwide. Voluntary departures (with up to 1 year of salary to incentivize folks to leave) are going on this year, and involuntary cuts (if necessary) will be in 2021.

It’s not that Chevron has gotten that much better than us, it’s just that we sukk much worse. I feel better now.

Hard to say that EM stock is oversold when you look at its PE and other valuation metrics.
