Volunteer to be Laid Off?

Folks, is it possible to volunteer? I understand bottom folks were offered 3 month's pay or Performance Improvement Plan. I would like to take the 3 months. Can I volunteer or do I need to purposely rank poorly, which I bet I could do! I'll just speak the truth next zoom call and I won't last long!

please don't say something that you wish openly here. HR objective is not to help employees, but to save the management and please the shareholders. Once you say that you would favour Australian package, the more unlikely HR will do it for other regions. Best to say what may be the worst outcome, to help others get mentally ready.

Are voluntary redundancies a thing in the main European locations (Belgium / UK)?
@rxj+17jd44V9

Some of our European colleagues say there is a possibility to spare identified person for redundancy and have them swapped out by the volunteer. This indicates that redundancies are not purely based on performance but rather lack of luck being in a specific function majorly hit by the cuts or performance based function by function (bottom performers selected within specific functions rather than overall bottom performers)

Yeah you right!

Just speak a bit about what you learned in school and practicing your profession over how many years.
Make it absolutely clear you think you have ideas to put on the table.
Speak your mind, for once - maybe dare for twice!

You'll get that 3 months package.
Head held high!

@syi+17jd44V9 we have been WFH since Mid March. They did an evaluation in Aug when we were supposed to go back and then said we were working fine, so our next check is Nov 1. The problem is now them pushing to take all vacation and limiting carry over days, but won’t let you take off the time you want “to make sure there is coverage”.

I would certainly be tempted with the package that Australia got. I wish they would quit trying to be sneaky about it and just call it what it is, a layoff, and not try and do it all as poor performance. I am just hoping to at least get through the first of the year where I have a chance at my pension.

I don't think they'd do this in the USA. Too many people would volunteer, myself included.

I would be tempted to take a voluntary redundancy package like what was offered for Australia employees.
