Yep...was hoping for a transfer or a package...let the search begin.
I know several in the field who got to stay but did not want to. They told their uppers that their time was limited and they would quit within a year and still did not get the package. If it was all about head count, why not let go those who want to. This whole fuzz about performance and need was b—s—. It was mostly individual contributors who were not dearly loved by their vps.
Some departments will not let people volunteer. But I am disappointed about being missed.
You can volunteer any day of the year.
In some departments you could not volunteer. Those who did were offered a free way out.
