Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

To all managers/directors who were let go

How does it feel to be on the other side of the Webex? Karma. Enjoy.

One of our directors hired everyone for their own individual task and delegated so much that he literally had his feet kicked up. He had a secretary for his calendar and another assistant for this another for that and even had PMs to handle anything account related. Sometimes you get to a point where he was going unnoticed for years and it finally caught up with him. No more luxury hotels or uber blacks too.

Eh, It's never a matter of if - it's a matter of when you get laid off in the valley. Keep that in mind and stay prepared. Don't get so attached to one company that it clouds your vision.

I got out after realizing I didn’t want to be a product of a company. This applies to everyone, but Cisco stopped being an innovator a long ago and being a product of Cisco is no longer valuable. Chuck moved in and I thought it could be a good move, but once Maria took over CX, it was clear Cisco would no longer have the advantage of aging superior support.

Boo-hoo. I am sure you took sedatives all the way to bank. They should clean our more of these manager/director losers to trim the budget and keep the worker bees.

You have no idea what pressure managers and directors are under to make cuts dictated to them by Finance. While I get this is just a vent-fest, you should try to be somewhat realistic in layoffs even work. Departments are given a number of heads pure and simple. That number is distributed as best leadership can do to keep their function running. Yes...anyone impacted believes they are sliced bread and those not impacted are all worthless....just move on.

And they are going to find out they are unemployable over the next months.

Many of these managers/directors are unemployable outside of Cisco. High-level buzzwords is only a marketable skill at Cisco.
