Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Question?

Does anyone buy anything from t these days anymore? I mean, is the only reason they have
customers because of unexpired contracts?
I mean, I get 25mb internet from Cox for $29mo, cell service from mint for $15 per mo., google voice for VOIP for free via Obihai, watch tv free thru streaming apps and Sling.
Who is dumb enough to pay t for any crummy, overpriced service? WHO?

As a SBC retiree, now T - had LL via T as a CLEC. Poor service with "snap, crackle, pop" on every phone call, especially after it rains or the neighbor waters the lawn. FIX the COPPER? They could/would never fix the problem. T always blamed Frontier's copper. I had VZ and when the cable had issues, VZ fixed the problem. SBC forced me to buy their CLEC offering if I wanted to continue concession - so I did. Service has been C-AP ever since, only reason I have LL is for 911.
Also had "T" DSL, served by DSLAM (if I wanted concession, switch to SBC CLEC svc. - paid for 5mg down (best available) for $29 concession price and best I could get WHEN IT WORKED was 5000kb. T answer was to use a different DSL modem that was "more forgiving". Yeah, sent constant resends and speed was no better than dial up basically. Switched years ago to Spectrum for 100mb down for $15.00 and it works. After I cancelled T DSL, my bill went up $39.00 and when I called in to question was told by T rep that I needed internet so they set me up for dial up WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. Told T NO- I didn't want it, didn't order it, was SLAMMED, remove the Dial Up, refund my $39.00. Then the rep wanted to argue with me. Incredible.
My "free" concession LL service cost me $5.00 per mo for taxes, until Randy decided that employees needed to pay $5.00 for the service with $5.00 in taxes. Currently paying around $12.00 mo for LL - have it for 911 only.
Now get this, the big T wants $20.00 per mo for VOIP along with another $5.00 per mo for taxes for LL for my Sis who was a District Level with SBC. She was told for years that at retirement her concession was "free LL for life". She uses a VOIP adapter and free Google, pays $1.00 per mo for 911. Then, my Sis had Directv and was paying about $45 for 2st yr, about $90 second yr. When her contract was up she called T to cancel service. Loyalty agreed to $45 mo to continue svc and first mo new bill was $120. She called them up, talked to some executive at T who stated that she was lying, no one at T would offer that price and she was getting a good deal. She said, check the recordings which T said didn't exist. The recording did exist and T just figured she would continue at $120. She told them 10 times CANCEL, then went with SLING streaming for $45. She gets her cell from Mint.
When the company p00ps on employees and they defect, and they c-ap on regular customers and charge excessive fees, what does T believe willhappen? They will lose internal and external customers to the competition.
T had better wake up, offer good products at reasonable prices or the competition will continue to poach their old customers as T heads races to the bottom.

This sounds great if you live in the city. Now imagine how expensive and limited these services would be if the companies were also required to serve rural areas, like AT&T.

Anyone paying $29 a month for 25mb should have their head examined. You can get 400mb for that price.
Remember this- if you aren’t paying for a product, you are the product.

Reliability on att is incomparable. I get employee discount and paying fee $s premium is not a big deal for me.

I do not have to call customer service or store in over 10 years.

Having been in the company for over 10+ years I feel I should have ATT.

Same with giga power. Comcast and others do not even come close. After pandemic started, Comcast in our neighborhood broke 4 times leaving customers down for several hours each time. ATT not even once.

I have several tv services including osprey. Not so good , won’t pay full price .. my loyalty is not there either as I am more with original att ideals.
