Warner Media To Cut Costs 20% By Laying Off Thousands

We've seen this pattern too many times before -

1) Buy a successful, dynamic company with a happy, motivated work force 2) Lay off many of the employees while making work life hell and destroying the morale of those that remain 3) completely p1ss off the formerly happy customer base 4) Sell the now ruined company for a fraction of what the boneheads running T paid for it.

All managers to forfeit salary 18 months for fiber build. No bonuses either. Live off savings and retirement as per stinky stanky.

Lather, rinse, repeat.....

Kind of sad, coming from one of those acquired employees who was happy before the deathstar came for us...

The Time-Warner is on Covid-19. No live audiences and so forth? If a decent vaccine comes around, and not just some rushed October "surprise", Time Warner and the rest of the entertainment industry will turn around. But, not until.

@1mui, well said. I don't see how T has justified paying 100's of labor hours per year, year after year on these copper runs with a lesser ROI on those cables as well. If we'd get the fiber out there we could get some of those customers we've lost to the cable companies.

The only way they can expand fiber network to homes in a material way, is stop paying dividends for next five years. It is the right thing to do for future survival of the corporation, but stockholders will revolt and vote the board and CEO out. The debt has no left no real money to do this capital intensive network upgrades that you speak of. I am afraid I don't see a way out for AT&T but to sell pieces and hope the remaining network can be bought out by a cash rich corporation like Apple or Google or ... who can do the upgrades that are needed.

Whoever it is whispering in Stinky’s ear ,has really bad breath. It’s clouding Stinkys judgement. So you have a media company you just acquired? Yet your trying to sell a customer base said media. No matter how great the media content if a majority of the customers you’re touting can’t get at least 100mbps of service then what do we expect? Customers will leave att platform if there isn’t a solid connection for customers use! Stinky speaks of the days when the bells were subsidized to get dial tone everywhere . Well here we are and the pandemic just exposed the absolute necessity of an adequate connection to ANY freakin network but with at least 100mbps of connectivity. Can Stinky do it??? Well let’s see, when Whitaker in his infinite wisdom decided to “recondition” copper vs laying down the fiber network all the way to the home he said nope. “It’ll save us 3cents on the dollar if we recondition copper” so now Stinky is at a crossroads.... bite the bullet and go for broke and COMPLETE a freakin decent network once and for all! The telecom whisperer in Stinkys ear needs a freaking tic tac or something si that this guy can stop relying on the fed for a subsidy to create the darn network now when it should’ve been laid 3 CEOs ago ! Covid just revealed what ATT has become . A hodgepodge of stuff to offer with no freakin way to get it to customers . I had fiber it was great. But then I had to move. Now no fiber, dsl and bonded dsl s—s , the WiFi via 5g dongle c-ap they d add old me was worse do now I was forced to go w the competition. Stinky if any if your minions are reading this , JUST BUILD THE NETWORK ! Get fiber out to every home and quit waiting for government welfare to corporations. Build out a true 5g network and quit beating around the bush. If it’s too much money then take que from Southwest Airlines CEO and forego your salary for the year and cut the salaries of all of the many many executives within the hodgepodges of companies within att. Or else just tell your telecom whisperer to just brush his damn teeth because he’s got you in a case of stupid spell if you think for one second that the fed is going to help you get better broadband to America . Att when it was SBC should’ve done that years ago.

Well, it probably doesn't help that we're still locked down in most states and no new movies are being released. Disney laid off a ton of people, too. They need to reopen the country.
