I think Oct. 30 is the exit date for take your package now and Nov. 23 is stick around and look for a job internally until then.

Differing with the post below - the difference is when your package starts. X months of severance & Cobra starting 10/30 or X months starting 11/23. Choose the 10/30 departure date and the severance money "runs out" three weeks earlier than it would have.

Depending on your manager you could well be asked to keep working through October and early November. How you manage that is up to you but you certainly don't want to turn 6 months severance into 0 months by burning a bridge.

Here's the difference for the layman. If you don't need the extra month for health coverage, take the early exit. They have to give us 45 day advance notice, thus the Nov 23 date. You get paid your base salary until then either way. However, if you select the early date, they'll save roughly $1100, $1200 from paying for your benefits for the month of Nov.

So, it boils down to, if you hate your boss, exit early, if you love him too much, stick around longer :)
