Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

UK Consultation Process Joke

DM just sent an email clarifying that in UK they will let go of more than 20 people each at Reading and Bedfont Lakes campuses.

Oh, he very kindly included a link to Cisco’s Mental Health support site. I am not being sarcastic, it’s true. These people treat us like cattle’s, shooting us in the head when they figure we are done for. Pathetic, hypocritical , insensitive evil incarnate.

Agree with @1xwc+17l11vOT and @fpa+17l11vOT . I am white, Caucasian Angle-Saxon British. My wife is of Asian origin. My wife ( I am ex-Cisco, she is still there) was on a CAAN call few weeks back. They ran a poll during the call and over 80% non-white employees present agreed that they are under-employed. While I know it is easy to say "of course THEY would", my wife has a PhD in Computer Science with publications. Her manager is her manager because he has worked for Cisco for 22 years.

Being ethnically British (whatever that is supposed to mean), I can vouch that there is discrimination at UK Cisco. You do not get promoted to or employed at the level you deserve if you have the wrong skin colour or "dodgy" accent, irrespective of your nationality. You are usually told it will take a "few years", just like in a government. Promotion is not skill based, but based on how long you have been in the dumps and been a yes-person for the management.

It maybe an annual LR fest, but where Cisco state they sell on their values and ethics, in practice Cisco discriminate and lie and will eventually be proved to have acted unlawfully. So it’s one thing to say calm down and another to be make sure Cisco stay honest instead of discriminating lying and victimising. Quite happy for Cisco to challenge but they won’t because they know the evidence exists. There is serious concern about the risk Cisco would place employees they have identified with emotional and mental health issues what these posts are to say to Cisco they are being watched and by the authorities and they know it.

Sounds like you have bigger issues to deal with. Calm down dear, it’s just the annual LR fest.

@cpn+17l11vOT the number of LRs is below the minimum threshold of 20. So, no, they are not exactly safe.. Clarity will be too much for incompetent DM the Dumb mo–n. Or Devilish Mephistopheles. or Demented Maniac. or something else.

It's UK mate. We got a PM who publicly racially abuses black people (picaninnies with watermelon smiles) and muslim women (post boxes and bank robbers). Now the entire population of the country looks like bank robbers behind masks and at toilet roll fights at Tesco. DM, as someone else pointed out, is from South Africa himself. Discrimination is the name of the game. That's where this country is going and Cisco is falling right in step. That's the default Cisco UK position. Loads of people of non-British, non-Caucasian heritage who have masters degrees, PhD's are reporting to managers and directors who have barely crossed the University step. As per a recent internal poll, most people of these communities feel under-employed. Time to move.

But no clarity about the other office locations in UKI. Are they safe, or is it just that the number of LRs is below the threshold?

Be very careful on the mental health link. What they are doing there is saying they have met their obligation under the 1974 employee act where they have to provide duty of care. What they actually are doing is creating a smokescreen. If HR or a manager starts raising mental health then why? Don’t consider them as caring they are covering themselves legally and preparing for potential legal comeback. If they raise mental health with any individual ask them why. What concern have they got who raised it ask for the specific signs. If concerned then any meeting or business requirement becomes second priority the health of the employee comes first.

Ask them are they abiding by the code of business conduct where there is zero tolerance for discrimination.

That’s what happens if you import your management mo–ns from South Africa. They engage in Boer tactics
