Thread regarding IBM layoffs

This is the impending death of an American Business Icon

An endless parade of weak executives and management teams has led IBM off the cliff. Now everyone is saying IBM was destined to become a smaller company. This is loser-speak. IBM was betrayed by a bunch of spineless, useless, worthless, business cowards in charge of IBM who just showed up for the paycheck (and stock bonuses) and who couldn't take smart business risks because they were scared of their shadow. This is the impending death of an American Business Icon and no one in the media is willing to speak out and tell the truth of this travesty.

Couldn't have said it better myself, @pee+17kAYtJk.

IBM will end up a Mainframe-only company... Red Hat will be sold off at some point when IBM realizes it failed AGAIN at Cloud!

IBM's name will live on for a long time but it may become like RIM (Blackberry) where it is just a brand that is doing stuff unrelated to what it used to do and be.

Somehow I don't think IBM is going anywhere. Might turn into something else, etc. But it's not just going to disappear.

"the impending death of an American Business Icon", it was dead over 10 years ago. What we are witnessing is the decomposition of the corpse.

Senior leadership in GTS specifically is horrible. Why do you think Rodrigo Lima said what he said when he left? These clowns cannot get out of their own way and haven't had an original idea in their life.

Years ago, Akers was on a plan to break up IBM. Gerstner arrived, and customers told him it was a horrible idea. He listened to customers, and built the company back in up in mid 90s.

GTS is a failing, shrinking, costly business responsible for the lack of revenue growth in the company. It deserves to go away.

100% agree. This is the beginning of the death of IBM. IBM Public cloud is 10 years behind competitors. The only reason it gets any revenue is because of the multiyear contracts from GTS forcing clients to use the IBM cloud. There are countless of smart and hard working employees at IBM, but it takes a year to do something that could be done in a month due to all the internal divisions in the company. The senior leadership has failed.
