Paid for Carry Over Vacation?

Does anyone know about getting paid for carry over vacation when you quit? I understand you’ll get a check for whatever remaining vacation is left for the current year, but just wondering about carry over from the previous year. I’m trying to figure out if I should take all vacation before end of year, or if I can roll some over to cash out in 2021 (assuming I’m not laid off...). Thanks!

My comment was that, in typical EM fashion, although it’s “written” that a supervisor can approve more than 10 days, the message is trickling down from senior management that they SHOULD NOT and it would only happen under the most extraordinary of circumstances. And VERY high level mgmt will be watching for it.
Can’t see any managers in my organization doing it and having to answer to a VP as to why they did it.

Supervisors can still approve over 10 days carryover vacation. Check the Benefits Policies page online. It’s there in print

and they just announced we can only carryover 10 days. All the talk in the summer about using vacation but also carrying over more than 10 days with higher level approval is gone!

@ipg+17le7YcP Calculated based on your hourly rate calculated as your Annual Salary / 2080.

Any idea how the payout would be calculated? Is it pro-rated by workdays (divided by 22) or by month (divided by the no of days of that month/standard 30 days)?

I’ve already taken my floating holidays, so fine there. I figured COV would count but I am so paranoid about getting screwed on my way out. I’ll roll over the max amount. Thanks everyone!

@OP - although I have not yet received the payment, I can confirm that my Admin included my remaining COV days (from 2019) when she calculated the number of unused vacation days for which I should be compensated. I've never been so pleased that I hadn't used my vacation days before being given the PIP/PIL option.

The only "vacation" days you do not get paid for when you leave the company are the 2 floating holidays. So if you haven't used those yet this year, use them before you quit.

Carry over from previous year would be paid out as well, as long as you make sure that you have these carry over noted by your Admin. She will have to put that in the system.
