Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Thanks for the stress on us all, Nike

*I don’t work at Nike, but my partner does.

It has been half a year since the pandemic started, and four months since Nike announced the layoff. As an outsider and not working for corporate America, I have to admit that I’m furious with the way Nike treats its employees. I’ve been following this site since that day, and I can feel the huge amount of stress that everybody has. As much as I try to stay out of this whole thing, it breaks my heart to see my partner suffering from it: anxiety is going off the roof, plans are being put on hold, losing sleep for nights, yet still have to work his a– off. ELTs obviously do not give a single f about this because they are so safe in their mansions in LO, or like fake JD said in the first all hands meeting “I wake up every morning thinking about you all.” Like seriously, please, you stay in your 8 mil penthouse in the Pearl and you say you think about your employees? If you think about your employees, you would not have a terrible layoff plan like this.

Anw, all I want to say is this f s—s and my is my heart is with you and your loved ones. More importantly, whatever happens, I hope we will figure this out and everything will be alright.

P/S: I don’t think we need to hear “if you are not happy, then leave.” Not everybody has the privilege to just take off and land a job that they like immediately. And seriously, being nice to each other doesn’t really cost anyone anything.

Wow. That's a great f'ing attitude to have. I guess it's too much to demand your company to be doing better. Do you like having a weekend and a safe environment to work in? You can thank workers who kept pushing their companies to treat them like human beings for that. Not the ones who threw up their hands and said there's nothing you can do.

You strike me as someone in low/middle management who doesn't realize how expendable you are to senior leadership, but you think they're your friends. One day that could be you if you kiss enough a** and be a class traitor! lol....

Their "mistake" was announcing the plans for layoffs so early. The WARN act only requires a 60 day notice for a mass layoff, they could've waited to make the announcement until they were done laying the foundation for the reorg. Employees who had been through these before would've read between the lines and gotten their ducks in a row while the blissfully ignorant wouldn't have to stress as much.

Yeah. The way they announced it in the Summer and then said it would continue into the Fall is just WRONG. Our morale and overall trust is rock bottom again. If I make it, I'm going to look for a more honest place to work after the new year. Working for the Swoosh is not that big of a deal, and I'll get paid more outside anyway.

Good luck to all.
