Bigger question is: why are you 66 years old and still working? Did you blow all the money in your tech career? I realize you enjoy your job, but seriously......retired life is fun too, and you can still do high tech stuff by volunteering your skills to benefit your community, and not some warped company. I've learned more in a few years of volunteering than I ever did at Cisco.

Good for you! Did you decline the ER?

I’m 62 and took the ER because I’m just tired and bored with high tech (I’m in supply chain not design).

Keep in mind they can always add more names to a future LR. Depending on how things go with the economy, they can always announce another round at any time.

The LR hasn't even started yet... that's in Dec'20.

All these other programs in advance of that are to get employees to take 'voluntary' exits/leaves/reductions. Depending on how many participate in voluntary programs, this will play into how many get the actual involuntary LR in December.

I agree that you may be 'safe' this time if not Notified this week, but once December comes, nearly anyone is at risk for that or future LR waves. Over the years, I've seen many, many good workers get let go from Cisco for little to no good reason. Some did everything right, nothing wrong... just became casualties of 'restructuring' exercises.

Anyway, good luck to you - enjoy the ride (while it lasts).

I’m aware of at least one person over 65 that took the elect package.

Perhaps contracts are different in your location.

"keep low profile" - what's the point of life then? just keep me head down and wait until i expire?

A quiet life maybe?

I am 58, I will never keep low profile, my voice will be always heard, Will always speak up against the nepotism which runs in this failed company.

Good for you OP. I don't know how you succeeded. My contract explicitly says my 65th birthday is the latest when I'll be retired.
The only thing that can guarantee you a promotion and raise and help you survive LR is to make your manager looks good.

You can run but you can’t hide. Your time is coming. Don’t fear the inevitable. Life is so much better outside that s-show

I think you also would have to add that you've been fortunate.

There are very good performers that have been and will be LR'ed.

They have kept you so that they can prove that not all the old employees are laid off. They keep employees in different age categories to protect from lawsuit.
