Hiring floor partners

Here's one for you. When applicants who have applied for floor partners jobs find out that they make 13.25 hr vs 15.00 that cashiers and door greeters get, they turn down the floor partner job and ask if they can work one of the higher paying jobs. I don't want to start a war but please someone explain to me why person who stands at the door all day should make more than people who are zoning, stocking and taking care of members on the floor?

And then we get grabbed to cover front end breaks...does not make sense.

I'm so glad that Target, King Soopers, Whole Foods and many other retailers don't harass me about credit and whatever other sh** while I'm shopping or when I check out. Also very glad I don't get stopped when I'm leaving! What is with this company? What kind of people shop there?

To @2aig+17mjKyIX, I posted about the Member Specialist position. Go to the wire, search for job description Member Specialist or go to AMP, Frontend Focus, click on the links to get the job description. We still have Team Lead and Manager meetings, this was discussed in detail. With increased pay comes more responsibility, we all know that, we have got to get shrink under control. HO is trying to use a double wham to do this, selling plus and credit, which it has been proven that members with credit card spend more, thereby increasing sales which lower the percentage number of shrink. (Sales cures most everything.). Then by using your most qualified associates on Exit Door to check scan and go, regular receipts and self checkout receipts. Don't forget you will have a or possible two Member Specialist on self checkout. All efforts should reduce shrink, keep damages to a minimum, expenses down and accidents very low (they prefer none) then your Club just made the stockholders very happy and you should max out on Sam's Share. Sounds simple doesn't it?

The Door Greeter or Member Service as it is now called makes $11.00 per hour and only works the Entrance Door and wipe carts. The Member Specialist, makes $16.00 per hour, works the Exit Door, Self Checkout, overrides, sign up Scan and Go app with members, upgrades, credit applications, lockup items, has to be Tech savvy, Membership desk and drives in addition to controlling shrink. Helps the MSL's with all the Front End which include the cart rail (first one hundred feet) and Electronics. Backup for Club Pickup, assist at TBA at register if needed, and be able to defuse a situation with an upset member. Since the front end is now over Maintenance we do that as well if necessary.

And if you do not produce numbers; Exit Tech, Plus, Credit, Scan & Go, you will be given a needs improvement on or a coaching for job performance. Now do you see why only one person in our Club applied for that job. Old job code "Door Greeter" associates do not want the Specialist role nor do they want to run a register because of the selling of additional services that is required. You have to ask every member every time.

So to the person who posted this, this not what the member specialists are doing in our club. Tech savvy? I don't think so. The people who got those new spots in our club stand around most of the time trying to look important. In fact they don't even know what their roles are. Catching errors? Ha, what a joke. I worked for the door for years. When you scan the receipt and just scan an item, without even looking into the cart, well what more can I say? Our cashiers DO NOT 123 EVERYTIME...NOPE. OH BUT THEY DO WHEN THERE IS A PLUS CHALLENGE AND THE MANAGER IS ON THEM TO DO SO.

I agree stocking is not an easy job either, I have heard that the raises are coming for the other departments but beware there will be higher expectations, you will get the job done or they will replace the ones that can't. Did not mean to rant but times are changing.

Clubs are bleeding in shrink on non theft items. Toilet paper, paper towels, water, pet food etc. Exit greeters once again being asked to be vigilant when checking receipts and catching these items that are not getting rung up. Self checkout and scan and go ( aka “scam and go”) are k–ling clubs. Exit greeters are expected to be all over this and help catch these errors. Think it’s easy? Go ahead and try. And when Coach’s are having a “conversation” with you because you aren’t catching any errors, you tell me how easy it is.

They should have both make the same money. Pretty much everyone winds up on door watch at one time or another. Exit door is not easy, but neither are many other lower paying positions
