Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Any Layoffs in EU?

So there are plenty posts about layoffs in US or Australia but did EU got hit also? I've seen one post about Portugal but is that only it? Rest of the EU is safe or EU will be hit by phase 2 in december?

Yes. Concretely, goodbye mails received from EU based people... literally right during the middle of the Chuck-in on Tuesday.

We were hit here in Galway (Ireland). Don't think anyplace is safe from it. The local laws just means it takes longer to complete.

Contrary to the PR, the EU is not one country. The Labour laws are very much national in nature. Of course, there are also a hell of a lot more countries in EMEA outside the EU. Some are as easy to fire in as the US. Most are much less litigious. Places like France and Germany are nightmares on Labour law.

US/Americas is always first due to job laws...then UK...then EU...EU can take a very long time..I recall one round still waiting for EU colleagues to depart 12 months after the official US layoff start.

UK layoffs are still not known. Will be substantial as both Bedfont and Reading campuses are hit with more “more than 20” psycho email barrage . Smaller offices will also be hit but they did not get that consultation love-email as they are looking at less than 20. Will just get the chop one fine morning after DM fails to take his morning dump and feels he needs to shed some load elsewhere.
