Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

OK for now, but no guarantees

If you are in the US and didn't have a meeting telling you that you were "at risk" your safe. The December LR event will impact those people who are in the "at risk" pool and didn't accept the severance package and did not find another role internally. It is stated in the program FAQ that people in that situation "it is likely that your role will be eliminated".

So you would be safe from this round. Down the road, end of FY21, that'll depend on the business situation then. No guarantees. We've all been through that before.

Curious... How many people know of their Mates who disappear (no longer in the meeting or listed in the email directory) between quarters? And it goes unreported in the total quarterly Cisco numbers?

Hmmmm...

You are only safe until the next quarter's earning report. If you want to know what the Cisco playbook is moving forward, all you have to do is look at the history of IBM. After failing to innovate, increase share price by reducing workforce and outsourcing to BRIC. Once you know that has failed, quarterly layoffs of US workers. Once that doesn't work, start acquiring businesses so you can claim you are on the next leading edge of whatever tech buzzword of the day and layoff those people from the acquisition.

Believe me, if you survived, it is temporary. When you finally realize this is a way of life at a company it becomes unhealthy physically, mentally, and emotionally. The mindset of the survivors becomes "what do I have to do not to get axed". This is the worst mentality you can have. You need to change your attitude to "what do I need to do to get out of this cess pool and not have it govern my life".

Had a meeting with the Director and upper manager the day after. Said we where safe. But very close mouthed for the future. I dont think TAC high cost centers are going to stick around for long....what a sh– show. TAC was supposed to be safe.

We where already understaffed and now even more so. Feel bad for the customers.
