How many landed up?

How many former HW casualties landed a better gig and still get severance?

I start with another OEM manufacturer soon. I am talented and was highly paid at Honeywell. I am making the same at the new place. It took 4 months to find a job which is about the end of the severance package. I am going forward happy with the thought... ‘How could it be worse than...’

I tried and tried to get riffed. Volunteered every time. Finally got accepted.
I had to hold out a couple of years but that 26 week parting gift was certainly worth it.
Have not worked since. Retirement is absolutely "landing up".

I landed up. Over 20% increase in pay. Leaving Honeywell was one of the best decisions of my life. After the last furlough, I had enough. Thank you COVID.

I have had one interview since I left HW and my severance ran out in September. I am working though and making more than I did at HW but it is a sacrifice.

Did not take the severance package and glad I did not because the new company did not want to deal with non compete agreements. I got slightly less pay but much better benefits with a defined career path. Much happier a after leaving Honeywell

I am still looking, over time the market is more competitive.

Started looking seriously last fall after the 4th qtr Aero reorg. Started getting interest in January. In March I started interviewing, got an offer in May with a raise and signing bonus. Was ready to give notice when they announced the 2nd RIF wave, so I volunteered. Was accepted and went straight to my new job. I've since hired 2 other Honeywell RIF refugees, and I'm still getting severance pay for a few more weeks. So is one of my hires, who both got raises from their Honeywell salaries. New health plan is less than half the cost of CIGNA plan, with better coverage, too, and they also contribute to better dental and vision coverage. Just sorry I didn't get more serious about a change before I spent 25+ years in Honeywell's race to the bottom.

A government job, loosely aerospace-related. My HON experience helped me significantly to ace the interview. In the government sphere, HON is kind-of highly regarded (my boss told me "read our internal manuals and gimme an industry perspective on how we are doing things" :). I get paid slightly less than I was when I worked for HON, but the non-existent corporate bs at my current workplace more than makes up for it, you know.

I moved to raytheon within 3 weeks. Not a "better" gig... i am just less aware of the bs and the pay was up 10 percent. I figure about 60k to the good. Honeywell is the butt of many jokes in my new workgroup. Raytheon thinks honeywellers are stupid and design cr-p products. I get a lot of hazing. They arent wrong.

I got tagged in round 1. Got 30% raise and signing bonus. Still get 10 more weeks of severance. God is great! Thank you HW!
