As far as I’m aware, there’s never been a public statement about the total numbers by the ELT.

What happened to the transparent days when they actually said what the impacted #'s are? I recall between '08 - '11 that they announced they were cutting several hundred from SJC. Then in '11, they announced the 5,500 (or 6,500) work force reduction (WFR) that would follow the early retirement offer in '11. Then there were some smaller LR's that occurred between '12 - '15 that didn't get much press. If I recall correctly, the first year that Chuck took over as CEO there were no layoffs, but then the big one of '16 occurred and was 6,500 (or 5,500). After that, the numbers became very secret.

I don't understand how they can say they're being transparent, but need to keep the overall numbers hidden from those who are not impacted "due to privacy concerns". How is a general number revealing who is being impacted or not and violating their privacy?

Even lately, you can't even find any info under CA's WARN requirements.

That 7000 figure came from the number of people eligible for the Elect Package across the territories where it was offered.

I would suggest 7000 is the minimum number they are looking for. There was always going to be an LR programme this fall, especially as many EMEAR countries didn’t go through with the January LRs this year because of the pandemic.

When this round was first announced it was going to be about 7000. Subtract those that took the voluntary ER (2000?) then you have 5000 or so to meet the 7000 / $1bn target

This article from Oct 9 says 9% (7100)

That article quotes a post on this website, so it is likely to be complete BS

0 because there has not been an LR yet, only a voluntary package to quit has been extended.
