AT&T's false reporting to the FCC program "is an indicator of a larger problem," Presley said. "And how deep that problem goes, we don't know right now. They are trying to minimize that, but it is concerning to me. There comes a responsibility with $283 million, and that responsibility is to get it right."

I realize people and most employees on this site aren't financial/wallstreet wizards so let me explain;
T is mainly held by institutions for fixed income accounts. Fixed income qualified div accounts are for financially independent/retired etc. Why you ask? because the dividend payout is taxed as a qualified dividend (i.e. lower tax rate than ordinary income). What does this mean? Without getting detailed, If your retired and living off dividends you pay a lower rate.
Bottom line, it does not matter to the institutional holders of T what the digital balance of the account is on the screen, only that the dividend is being sent quarterly!
Now, a 30 year old employee looking to build his retirement portfolio should be looking for growth funds and not fixed income investments like T, broham.

Fake news! T (SBC) stock split 2 for 1 in 1998, so the stock price has doubled along with paying a healthy div the entire time.
Thrown in jail... What's the charge? Whining workers.

It really pains me to say this, but this company has become a joke. How in the hell were the id–ts in the C-Suite allowed to ruin this once great company? They should thrown in jail.
